EDM challenge #18 Draw the view out your window

This is the view outside the window where my art "nest" is. When I was painting it, I forgot that I was going to leave space to add the Hummingbird the next time it came to feed, so it ended up being just the feeder. I was pleased with the way the glass came out.

I had this post done this morning, but blogger was giving me fits.

Nice feeder, Tami, and I'm jealous that you actually HAVE a hummingbird at yours. I keep putting the feeders out every year and they keep getting ignored.

Oh, those darn watercolors! I'm still mostly an oil and acrylics painter, so I think you should be able to paint on TOP of things! This is lovely, Tami. The background is so full of light and movement that you don't really NEED a hummingbird in the sketch ;D.

Neat sketch Tami. Now you can a hummer all by himself.

Here in mid-Wisconsin the hummingbirds are usually gone by Labor Day but yesterday, while it was only in the 50's, I saw a straggler come by for a drink.

Thanks you guys, Karen, They didn't like the store bought nectar when we hung ours up, so we started making our own, big difference! Laura, the other bit of painting I have done in the past, was with oils and acrylics, the hardest thing for me to get used to with WC was the fact the you can't paint on top of things. Thanks for the positive comment though. Lin, I haven't tried glass from that type of view before and I was pleased with the way it came out. Teri, I will be doing the HB by himself. Ours stay all year here in CA.

What a lovely sketch and gorgeous feeder. First time I saw humming birds i thought they were large bees, This down under Aussie didnt realise that humming birds would be in San Franciso, thought they would be further south.

I like the glass too--very nice. The base looks great too--wonderful dimensionality and shading. I'll look forward to seeing the hummingbird. I'm curious to see whether you'll draw it from life or a photo since from life it's just a little blur most of the time!

Well done Tami! I just used my dictionary to see what a hummingbird is: Ein Kolibri! They are very exotic birds for me! I'd love to be able watch one in person.

Such a sweet illustration. I'd love this one framed and hanging near my sliding glass doors so I could feel as if I always had the hummers around year round. I like that the hummer isn't there, it makes it feel as if it will be there in second.

Oh how fun and what a conincidence! I just put out our hummingbird feeders as they are beginning to move through here on their way to Mexico. Territorial little buggers, aren't they!

Great job Tami, it's SO FUNNY the day I was doing the bricks outside i just filled my feeders and took a snapshot of a bird while feeding. He's on the feeder w/perch so he's not in motion. After waiting to get one in midflight I decided to get back to laying brick patio.

Tami,
This is very nice. I also like the way in which you suggested the leaves. I'm waiting for the hummingbird.....
