The Aspen groves from the Rockies have been haunting my memory the past few days. I had always thought of their trunks as white but in reality they are actually a very pale green. When they are grouped together it is very obvious. In my sketch book painting the trunks are the perfect pale green, however, in the scan... well, much is lost.
I also included the pen and ink just because I like that as well.

OH WONDERFUL!!! I love the aspens in CO!! And they are so difficult to capture with their whiteness/pale green!!! GREAT JOB, Tami!
Great job on the texture of the bark, Tami. I can imagine the color - and I feel your pain in regard to how the scan can change the tone. But it's such a nice sketch. (Aside: On my first and only trip to Colorado, as a 16-year-old, I bought a pair of Aspen-leaf earrings. They were coated in some kind of clear stuff, but they got wet and were ruined. I've mourned for them ever since.)
Oh Karen, if I had known before I left, I would have looked for some for you. Thanks to both you and Lin, for you sweet comments and always encouraging support!
oh, I like what you did with these here! great job, Tami. and it is overwhelming if you think about it all too much, isn't it? so don't think aobut it -pick something and do! (listen to me - that's what I need to tell myself!!) LOL
I love the composition and the delicate colouring and sharp drawing... really beautiful.
I agree with you. The pen and ink is also very nice. I love the composition and the way you get really close. It reminds me of a family portrait.
Tami, your Aspens are wonderful. Exactly the right color and the bark texture is right on. Very, very nice job and it brings back memories of summers in Crested Butte, CO. Thank you.
Beautiful aspens Tami!! I love how you did this.
Thank you all for your enthuastic comments! I really wish you could see the live drawing, the color is so much better.
